This former coal spoil batch can be found in the Cam Valley - an area rich in the remains of the former somersetshire coal mining industry. As well as being a Local Nature Reserve the site is also important for geology and is designated as a Regionally Important Geological Site (RIGS).
The site is now a woodland owned and managed by Camerton Parish Council. It has steeply wooded slopes and supports a good variety of fungi. There is a heritage and nature trail.
Access can be gained from Red Hill, Camerton, Near Timsbury. Look out for the Miner!!
